Last week in Review

Monday- 4.11 miles

Tuesday- Tried to do weights/cardio, but my back was not having any of it. Every time I bent over with the weights, I would get a sharp pain on the right side of my lower back.  Did what I could without weights, than opted for a 30 min stationary bike ride.

Wednesday- It was raining outside,so my running partner decided to do a Jillian DVD. I decided to just do the bike for 30 min and  the elliptical for 30 mins.  I had a chiro appt after work today.

Thursday-It was still raining outside, but I decided not to do to much, since I had just gotten  a treatment last night. So I just did the bike for 30 min and 30 min  on the elliptical.  Back was still feeling kind of sore.

Friday-  4 miles - No rain this morning, so I was hoping to give running a try.  We just went slow and steady. My back was feeling pretty good.  No Pain. YAHOO.

Saturday - Was hoping my back was still feeling good, because this morning we were suppose to do 10 miles, but instead we ended up doing 13 miles. My back was feeling really good, so we just kept going.

Sunday - 3 miles -I thought I would, just go in to town and do an easy 3 miles.  The first mile was an  average pace for me, than for some reason I thought I would just push myself to see how I would do. My splits were 9.24,9.02,8.46.   Where in the HECK did that last split come from. BOY, I was huffing and puffing when I got done. Just when I didn't think I had it in me I  pull it out some how.  Boy,  I was glad I pushed myself.

Last Tuesday, my son had an FFA Banquet.  This was our last school activity, until  Graduation Day in May.  I'm starting to  have some mix feeling, about my baby boy graduating .
FFA Banquet - Mike,Parker and Me

About 5 years ago we planted some fruitless pear trees, that line both sides of our driveway.  My twin sister has these same trees lining here driveway. GO FIGURE, we are twins.   She planted her trees about 12 year ago. Her trees are a lot  bigger than mine.  I love watching these tree bloom.  Beautiful trees and green grass, just doesn't get any better than that.

Enjoying  my beautiful trees.

It's that time of year when I have to start mowing. I mowed for the first time last Saturday.  I love keeping  my yard looking nice.  As you can see, mowing for me is not just an hour or two, it takes me around 4 hours to mow an around 2 hours to weed eat. Mowing at my house is pretty much a full days work.  I wouldn't want it any other way.  When I get it all  done, I love to go  sit on the front porch and just admire my beautiful lawn.

Handful Bra Review/Giveaway

Jody from Handful Bra gave me  the great opportunity of giving Handful Bra's a try.

Handful Bra's are designed to flatter, not flatten. Handful Bra's are  also designed for A to C cups.

When I put a sports bra on I feel and look as flat as a pancake.  Don't get me wrong I'm glad I don't have to worry about my boobs giving me a black eye, but at the same time I would like to look like I have something on the top of my body.  So the Handful Bra was very intriguing to me.  I really wanted to see if it really would make me look like I had boobs.

Handful Bra -BOOBS
Sports Bra- PANCAKES

I picked the white bra, because it would go with all my workout clothes. I'm not a person that only wears a sports bra, without a shirt over it  for my workouts.  I  sure wish I could, but I would need a tummy tuck before I ventured into that area.  That's what happens when you've been a  yo yo dieter all your life, the skin can only give so much before it doesn't go back anymore.

The Handful bra has removable pads that contour to your body.  The bra is very supportive and comfortable.  Handful Bra's are  also very versatile. I don't only wear this bra to workout in, but  I also wear it to work, and going out at night.

                                 LOVING MY BOOBS
I love that I can make this bra a part of  my everyday outfit. It looks a lot like a camisole when you wear it under clothes.  No one would even know it's a bra.
I liked the Handful Bra, so much I already bought another one, of course that color would have to be pink.

Handful Bras also come in a mesh bag, so when you wash them they won't get all tangled up in the washer.

No Spring Break & LARABAR Winner

No Spring Break.   Spring break for us is right in the busy time of our  calving season. Needless to say we have never gotten to go some where for spring break.  I wont say that upset me,because it doesn't. I'm not a big fan of  vacationing anyway.  It all sounds good, till it come time to get everything ready and than I just don't want to go.  Going to different places doesn't make me as  happy as  just staying home and being with my family.
Family Time

My oldest son just got back from Texas.  He was there for a Livestock Judging Contest.  They didn't do as well as he had hoped, but in my eye he always does great.  He was so happy to be home.  He's hasn't had a lot of free time, due to all the Livestock Judging practices and competitions that he has been doing.

We had some more baby calves.  We had a couple of heifers that needed a little help with getting that big baby calf out.  I love watching the natural process of giving birth.   I just wanted to go and get some ice chips for that momma.  Can you tell I'm having flashbacks of giving birth?  Bring on the drugs.

This weeks training has been going really good.
Monday- 4.50 miles, Elliptical - 30 min
Tuesday- 1 hour weights/cardio, Elliptical- 30 min
Wednesday- 16.50 miles long run. So happy to get my long run in  early this week, now I can really enjoy my weekend.
Thursday- 45 min weights/cardio, Elliptical- 30 min
Friday- 4.23 miles,tanning.
Doesn't tanning count as an excersie? OK, It was either do the elliptical or tan, I was running out of time, before work. So I opted for the tanning.  I can't stand to have white legs and it shorts season.

Sorry, I was late getting the LARABAR  winner picked, I totally forgot all about it.   I've been helping out at the bank so much that I haven't had a lot of time to do much with my blog.

Sleeping with the baby calf

Mac had to get up early Saturday morning to go to an FFA Competition.  She said it was a long day.  We have a baby calf that lost it's mommy and we're having to bottle feed it.  Mac loves the baby calves, she went out to see the baby calf and ended up taking a nap with it. This shows you  just how tired Mac really was.

MAC AND BABY CALF NAPPING

Rachelle, Tree and I met up at the bike trail in Des Moines to get our long run in yesterday.   Starting out the temps were in the low 30's.  The wind wasn't as bad as it has been. Yahoo, we even got to run in  the  daylight that sure in the heck doesn't happen very often. It was so nice not to have to put all that other stuff on.  I'm falling in love with running the bike trails, it's so much better than  running the  highway.  I love seeing all the other people out their running, walking and  riding their bike.  It just makes for a much nicer run when you know your not the only one out getting exercise.

Our training plan called for  14 miles this  morning.  The other group of girls only wanted to run 6 miles.  So us three met up early and got 7 miles in before we were to  met up with the other girls.  Those first 7 miles were great, not much wind temps were awesome for a morning run.
We get back to the car and the other girls were waiting for us.  The other girls like to go a certain way on this bike trail  which is cool, but  it has a slight  incline most of the way. .A couple mile into it and I start to get the cramps my stomach is not feeling very good.  When we stopped at the car to meet the girls, Tree took some IBP.  I was so hoping she had some more with her, but she didn't,"DARN IT".
Normally running in general would get my  mind off the cramps, but that wasn't working today.  I think as I'm getting up there, my body is changing, " DARN IT"  that's the cycle of life.
So for me those 14 miles ended up being a little tougher than I was wanting, but I got them done. I can't dwell on a  not so good long run, because  their is always the next one that I am going to kill..
HA HA.
Last night we celebrated my hubby's birthday.  We all went to his favorite restaurant . His favorite restaurant just happens to be in a small town not far from where we live. They have the best food. This little  restaurant  actually   won a contest for the best hamburger.  Believe me they are delicious.
How did your long run go?

Have you ever fallen a sleep with a baby calf?

Chobani Review/Giveaway

Ashley from  Chobani Greek Yogurt sent me a sample pack of Chobani  Greek Yogurt to review.  I was so pumped when I received the package in the mail.

The sample pack had pineapple, mango, peach, strawberry, strawberry and banana, black cherry, raspberry, just to name a few.

Their  Non- Fat yogurts are  Apple Cinnamon, Blood Orange and Honey.

Low Fat yogurt just  to name a few Mango, Passion Fruit, Pineapple.

What’s Greek about Chobani?
The word "Greek" actually describes how they make their yogurt.
You won’t find any thickeners, gelatins or stabilizers in Chobani. Instead we use a centuries-old straining technique to remove excess liquid. This is why Chobani is so thick, creamy and packed with two times more protein than regular yogurts.

Chobani also contains five types of live and active cultures including three strains of probiotics. Plus, it’s deliciously rich and creamy so it’s an ideal way to satisfy your cravings without derailing your diet.

All varieties of Chobani Greek Yogurt are naturally Gluten-Free, which means they contain no wheat, rye, barley or other gluten-containgin thickeners, gelatins, gum blends or stabilizers.

My favorite way to eat  Chobani Greek Yogurt

NOTHING BUT GOOD

I love the creamy and smooth texture of  Chobani Greek yogurt. The fruit in the yogurt makes for just the right sweetness.  By adding a little granola to my Chobani Greek yogurt it makes for a very filling lunch.

Give Chobani Greek Yogurt a try, you wont regret it.
                                                    I'm loving Chobani Greek yogurt.

I've tried several  different Greek yogurts in the  past only to be disappointed with the taste and texture, but not CHOBANI GREEK YOGURT.  I make sure my refrigerator is always stocked with Chobani Greek yogurt.

One of my follower will get to try out Chobani Greek yogurt  for  themselves. Chobani is offering one of my followers a sample pack, just like the one I received.  How sweet is that?

Calving season is here

It's that time of year again, calving season.  One of our  heifers had twins earlier in the week, but the twins didn't make it.  We've had several other  good healthy  babies though, like this one.

This baby calf is so cute

The other night my son's girlfriend was over at our house, when hubby came in and told us that their was  a heifer out in the barn trying to have a baby calf.  Mac lives on a farm, but her Dad buys calves and finishes them out than sale them.   So, Mac has never seen a baby calf born.  Mac was all over it when hubby asked her if she would like to see one born.  Parker and her got their coats on and  headed out to the barn to watch the heifer.  They were out there probably an hour and they started to get cold, so they  came in to get something to eat and get warmed up and than  headed back out.  As for me, I've been up since 4am and I was starting to get really  tired, so I was  heading to bed real soon.  This all was taking place around 8pm.

The heifer finally had her baby and Mac was right their to watch it all.  Living on the farm we take for  granted that everyone has got to see baby calf  born.   Calving every year is such apart of our  life, that  we forget that  some people from the city have never got to experience the birth of a calf.

The next day Mac's  Mom called me and said Mac  had a hard time getting to sleep, because she was so wound up from seeing that  baby calf born.

I was working   at the bank last week and asked  the bosses son, Noah if his wife and son still wanted to see a baby calf born.  Noah said yes, they were still  wanting to.   I got Noah's phone number in case we had one this weekend.  Hubby called me this afternoon  and said that one of the heifers water had broken and it would be soon..  Hubby than called Noah's wife to see if they were able to come out.  They hopped in the car and were out here in a few minutes.

The little boy loved watching  the birth of that baby calf .  The only bad thing was we were all  getting cold waiting for that calf to get here. I never dress warm enough when I go to the barn, that's just me. Needless to say they didn't dress warm enough either being from the city, but we all stuck it out and watched this little calf being born.
It's hard to see, but the feet and head are coming out.

Baby calf just born.  Momma is licking  the calf  so that it  gets all cleaned off and will get up and start moving.

Have you ever seen a baby calf born?

Do you live on a farm?
